Driving the news: Starting April 2026, USCIS directly links foreign bank account reporting (FBAR/FATCA) to immigration vetting. Gaps between databases and tax or immigration filings can trigger additional background checks and credibility questions in naturalization cases. Penalties: up to $16,536/year for non-willful violations, up to $165,353 for willful ones.
Why it matters: Nearly every Israeli in the U.S. maintains bank accounts in Israel. Many don't realize FBAR applies to them. Now, sloppy filing can delay green card or citizenship applications. E-2 holders with Israeli business accounts are especially exposed.
Israeli Companies Generate $7.3 Billion in Florida's Economy
